Nothing is better on a cold day then a nice hot toddy in the evening. We’re up in NC for the next couple of weeks and it is super chilly here! We decided to make this apple cider and rum hot toddy to warm up a couple nights ago and it was really delicious.
Here’s what you’ll need…
(For ~10 drinks)
For drink
60 oz. apple cider
15 oz. dark rum
~ 6 whole star anise
~ 2 cinnamon sticks, in pieces
~ 20 whole cloves
~ 1.5 tbsp whole all spice
~ 1 tsp dried orange peel
For garnish
Whole cinnamon sticks, one per drink
2 tsp turbinado sugar
Pinch of pumpkin pie spice
In a large sauce pan combine apple cider, star anise, cinnamon, cloves, all spice and orange peel. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and let simmer for at least 20 minutes or until the cider is spiced enough for you.
Meanwhile, ombine the turbinado sugar and pumpkin pie spice in a small plate. Dip the rim of your glass in water. Run the rim of your glass around the sugar mixture a couple times until coated. Pop a cinnamon stick in your glass and then pour 1.5 oz. of rum per drink into the glass. Once your cider is ready, pour 6 oz. into your glass over the rum. Now, sit back and relax by the fire and enjoy your hot toddy….responsibly of course.

I adore your photography!
Thank you so much!
